An Investigation of Phytoplankton in the Marine Biosphere
Abstract:
Students will examine the effects of light and temperature on phytoplankton population. Ocean color data from the Coastal Zonal Color Scanner, and SeaWiFS, and temperature data from the Multi Channel Sea Surface Temperature data set will be used to this end.
Outcome:
The learner will be able to:
Identify phytoplankton as a biotic component of the Earth systems
Discover that relationships exist between abiotic and biotic components of Earth systems
Interpret composite data images
Draw conclusions by comparing data and demonstrate by diagram the interrelationships between phytoplankton and changes in the environment
Suggested Grade Level & Duration:
